ST. VALENTINE’S DAY CONCERT
There will be a special concert for St. Valentine’s Day on Sunday February 14th, in church, at 3.30 p.m. The concert will be given by Lois Murray (soprano), James Risdon (recorders), Gillian Hughes (clarinet), Janet Tothill (double bass), and Trevor Hughes (keyboards), and Clare Fleck (narrator). The programme includes romantic music from two different eras. It begins with rarely heard music from the eighteenth century, by the Scottish composer James Oswald, who married into the Lytton family, and lived at Knebworth House in the 1760s. Appropriately for St. Valentine’s Day, the programme will include his charming song collection “Colin’s Kisses”, and other music reflecting his romantic link with Knebworth. Moving forward in time, and with a change in musical style, the second half of the programme features a medley of popular and romantic songs from the musicals of George Gershwin. Proceeds in aid of Holy Saviour Church. Admission by programme: Adults £10, Concessions £8, Students FREE.
