A Poem – Where Is God?

Where is God?

So where is God right now.
How will we know he’s there?
I’m sure we all know how.
The answer lies in prayer.

He prays against that virus.
For all those who are dying.
We know He does this for us.
To pray we must keep trying.

Keep looking for Him, to find.
Not for some place out there.
But where His people are kind.
And we can see their loving care.

For it is in our hearts that God is found.
Look deep inside, for Him to find.
And sing our praises, out loud in sound.
For he is with you, loving and kind.

For His people is our prayer.
Those from loved ones, now left.
It is Him who is out there.
Among those who, are now bereft.

These few words came into my head.
On paper I put these few sayings.
For all God’s children who are dead.
Let us to keep on praying.

Sponsored Bike ‘n Hike

The annual Sponsored Bike ‘n Hike, organised by the Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust, takes place on Saturday 10 September 2016.

This is a good fun day for families and all who like to cycle or walk, and for those who have a competitive streak too… who can do the most?  AND you will raise money, half for Holy Saviour Church and half for the Churches Trust.

Sponsorship Packs for cyclists, walkers, and church helpers are available at the back of church, along with Churches Trust information.

We need church helpers to welcome visitors on the day – please sign up (or email me) if you can offer an hour on the day.

Hitchin Counselling Service

HCS was set up 20 years ago by Quakers who wished to provide a free professional counselling service to the people of Hitchin. We have had two Administrators during the 20 years, and the second one is leaving us soon. We would like to find someone who could carry on the work of being first point of contact and administrator for HCS. The post requires someone with sensitivity as well as good communication and organisational skills. This is an entirely voluntary position which would take up approximately 7 hours a week, but can be done at home and at times to suit the person, but they need to be able to get to Bedford Road Health Clinic once a week. Contact Chris Kell (Chair) for further information:  chriskell37@gmail.com

BBQ at Maydencroft Manor

Just a note to thank those of you who attended – 78 of us in fact. The Social committee are pleased that so many of you were able to attend. Special thanks are due to the many helpers who supervised activities, to those who provided the superb buffet items, to Tim and Debbie for cooking the BBQ and of course to Bob and Frances for allowing us to share their lovely, well tended grounds. We wish you all a very good summer and hope you will be able to join in some of our Autumn events. Sheila and the committee.
