Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!

But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!

4. THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
Old Testament Reading: JEREMIAH 31:1-6
https://youtu.be/6mofP1EL3OE

At that time, says the Lord, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall take your tambourines, and go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit. For there shall be a day when sentinels will call in the hill country of Ephraim: ‘Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.’

New Testament Reading: ACTS, 10:31-43
https://youtu.be/F6rJBAZElWs

Peter began to speak to them: ‘I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all. That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.’

GRADUAL HYMN: THE DAY OF RESURRECTION
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgIx_0jhW1Y

The day of resurrection!
Earth, tell it out abroad;
the passover of gladness,
the passover of God.
From death to life eternal,
from earth unto the sky,
our Christ hath brought us over,
with hymns of victory.

Our hearts be pure from evil,
that we may see aright
the Lord in rays eternal
of resurrection light;
and listening to his accents,
may hear, so calm and plain,
his own “All hail!” and, hearing,
may raise the victor strain.

Now let the heavens be joyful!
Let earth the song begin!
Let the round world keep triumph,
and all that is therein!
Let all things seen and unseen
their notes in gladness blend,
for Christ the Lord hath risen,
our joy that hath no end.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.’ Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went towards the tomb. The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. Then the disciples returned to their homes.

But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.’ When she had said this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? For whom are you looking?’ Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’ She turned and said to him in Hebrew, ‘Rabbouni!’ (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, ‘Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” ’Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord’; and she told them that he had said these things to her.
This is the Gospel of the Lord

ALL: Praise to you, O Christ

6. THE LITURGY OF INITIATION
The Renewal of Baptism vows
https://youtu.be/p0AxoCzTYug

As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, we remember that through the paschal mystery we have died and been buried with him in baptism, so that we may rise with him to a new life within the family of his Church. Now that we have completed our observance of Lent, we renew the promises made at our baptism, affirming our allegiance to Christ, and our rejection of all that is evil. Therefore I ask these questions:
Do you turn to Christ?

I turn to Christ.

Do you repent of your sins?

I repent of my sins.

Do you renounce evil?

I renounce evil.

And now I ask you to make the profession of Christian faith into which you were baptised, and in which you live and grow.
Do you believe and trust in God the Father, source of all being and life, the one for whom we exist?

I believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Son, who took our human nature, died for us and rose again?

I believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God and makes Christ known in the world?

I believe and trust in him.

This is the faith of the Church. This is our faith. We believe and trust in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Almighty God, we thank you for our fellowship in the household of faith with all who have been baptised into your name. Keep us faithful to our baptism, and so make us ready for that day when the whole creation shall be made perfect in your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen

May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith, that you may be rooted and grounded in love and bring forth the fruit of the Spirit. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession

May all Christians discover afresh enthusiasm and excitement, for the good news your Son brings.

In the silence of the night. When all lay still and the grave seemed cold and lifeless, your radiant love broke free and raised your son. From nothing your spirit brought forth life at the beginning of creation. From the absence of all senses you restored all that had been lost and more. May this astounding news fill our hearts with awe and wonder at your saving love.

Lord of life Raise us in your Son.

In the bright light and spring freshness of early morning, Mary came to the tomb with oil and spices to complete that which seemed unfinished. Startled at what she found, she dared not even dream anything other than the horror of desecration. Called by name, she abandoned restraint and flung herself at your raised Christ. May our hearts likewise spring with delight at the new life you give.

Lord of life Raise us in your Son

In the gloom of mourners comforting one another, unable to face another day. As they try to overcome their sadness and look for tomorrow. We pray for all those who have lost loved ones and their families, that they might find comfort in the risen Christ. We commend to your keeping all those who have died. Through the resurrection hope, that they may know the joy of heaven.

Lord of life Raise us in your Son

In the house, with doors locked to keep the unknown at bay, we hold before you our doubts and fears, our faltering faith. We pray for all those whose confidence in your resurrection, is shaken by sickness or suffering. Let them feel the nearness of your presence, And they warmth of your love.

Lord of life Raise us in your Son

Christ who died is risen. Alleluia We join our prayers and praise with the whole creation, as we make this our song. Alleluia. Amen

Prayers for People
We pray for those who are sick, either at home or in hospital, including Fiona, Audrey, Patsy, Letitia, Teresa, Barbara and Phil, Margaret, Jo and Martin and we pray for those who love and care for them. We pray for those we know who are homeless. We remember before God all those who have died.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

7. LITURGY OF THE SACRAMENT
OFFERTORY HYMN
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXzmjNE-yLA

Thine be the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son:
endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;
angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay.

Refrain:
 Thine be the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son;
endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. [Refrain]

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
life is naught without thee: aid us in our strife;
make us more than conqu’rors, thro’ thy deathless love:
bring us safe thro’ Jordan to thy home above. [Refrain]
